3 Nights, 800 miles
Blue Ridge Parkway....consistantly voted the #1 motorcycle ride in the United States. My wife and I will travel the entire length of the parkway that goes through Virginia, and onto the continuation of it - the Skyline Drive. This trip is dedicated to the MIA's and POW's of the Vietnam war. Our ultimate destination is the Vietnam Memorial Wall on Labor Day in time for the 13th Annual Run For The Wall parade.
A veteran of the Vietnam era, although, never serving in Vietnam...(I joined the Navy to see the world and I never got outside of Millington Naval Air Station in Memphis, TN!)... Muthuh attends the annual Laying of the Wreath at the Raleigh, NC Statehouse Vietnam Veteran Memorial each year, but never made it to the Wall Run in D.C. Typically heading the other way when a ride of such magnitude comes to town (over 200,000 bikes), the '00 Wall Ride will be the exception.
You are encouraged to make a donation to the Foundation that maintains the Wall through our Charities Page.
After the ceremonies, the weather forecast called for some severe thunderstorms and overall crappy weather, so we elected to return home on the fourth day.
